Though written entirely in Japanese, there are clear charts to aid the Adventurous Knitter.

A stitch pattern book for intermediate knitters that covers a variety of different patterns - knit/purl patterns, lace, cables, intarsia, Fair Isle, bobbles, and more.

Though the patterns are similar to ones in many of the English stitch pattern books, and there are only 116 stitch patterns, what I found very useful was the detailed illustrations given below the different knitting stitch patterns to show you how to work the more complex parts of the pattern.

Of special note also is the ingenious use of a crochet hook in knitting to work some of the complex texture elements - hopefully some of the knitting designers will be inspired to incorporate these clever techniques into their patterns.
