In the Author's Words.....
"...barely a day went by that getting the mail wasn't just like Christmas. Some people made one or two scrumbles, some created lots more, with many contributing pieces for both the coat and the shawl. …by the time we reached the deadline less than three months later, 64 crocheters had mailed me a total of 247 scrumbles pieces, and 154 individual motifs!"

"New book on a group project by Prudence Mapstone and 64 members of the international free form crochet guild.
Since the inception of the internet, like-minded souls have found it much easier to get together to share knowledge, ideas and inspiration. Artistic pursuits no longer need to be carried out in isolation, and many traditional crafts are becoming group experiences. This book tells the tale of one such collaboration, and is a celebration of personal creativity through freeform crochet."
This project started when a member of the Crochet Guild of America challenged fellow members to create a group project. Her own group of crocheters had created a coat depicting landmarks in Pittsburgh.
Taking up the challenge, Prudence Mapstone organized online crocheters to contribute their creative scrumbles, from which she would create a coat and shawl. There were so many contributions, they also created a scarf and umbrella!
Coat of Many Scrumbles documents the process of organizing this international project, and features individually the creations and thoughts of the individual contributors.
