Mik's Gloves "They are a gift for my niece Mikhaila, made from one of Shirl's (Shirley Scott) Sanquhar patterns but with a small modification of my own (I substituted a simple Fair Isle border pattern for the salt-and-pepper wrist band).

The yarns are superwash merino from Fleece Artist and hand-dyed fingering weight wool which I happened upon quite serendipitously on our travels in Britain two years ago. While tagging along with my husband on his never-ending quest for narrow gauge steam trains, lo and behold beside the train station in Llanfair, Wales (home of the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway) stood the Colinette Yarns Mill Outlet Store. Needless to say, my husband and I parted company for a while to pursue our individual passions, and while he immersed himself in train stuff, I did likewise in the treasure house next door. It was overwhelming to wander amongst hundreds of skeins of hand-dyed yarn of every description, many of them one-offs from dyeing experiments. I treated myself to a rather modest selection, one of which found its way into these gloves. "
