Big Book of Knitting
There are several great reference books available and Big Book of Knitting is now added to a knitters' list of valuable resources. Originally printed in Germany, this new translation has excellent colour photos to illustrate techniques. There are closeup details of all the basics (cast on and off, increases and decreases) plus photographs of many different finishing techniques, necklines, pockets and much more.
Some of the special techniques described include entrelac, reversible patterns (see the sample double knitting on the right), embroidery and duplicate stitch, plus several interesting ways to combine short rows and colour (see example on the left).
