The Needle Arts Book Shop is a mail order business selling quality books on knitting, crochet, needlepoint, and spinning
owned and run by Marsha White.

My commitment to my customers is to provide prompt service, friendly advice about your book choices and a few extra perks sent out with your order to let you know how much your patronage is appreciated. The books travel to many destinations in the world, from hand-delivered orders within my own town, to air and sea shipments to worldwide destinations, including the US, Australia, Bahrain and Iceland.

For those who are curious about the Fair Isle Sweater I am wearing, it is a lovely design by Nancy Carr and sold as a kit by Shelridge Farm . I turned the pullover into a cardigan, changed the edging patterns, and did steeked front and sleeves (shaped armholes too!). It was quite an adventure, and it is one of my favourite sweaters.

Shows I Attend

For book lovers in the Southern Ontario area, I hope you'll visit me at one of these shows:
  • Knitters Frolic Spring 2010. The Frolic features vendors galore and a full day of workshops. This event continues to grow, and the enthusiasm of knitters is wonderful!
  • Waterloo County Knitters' Fair Saturday, September 11, 2010
The Waterloo County Knitters' Fair is the largest event of its kind in Canada. For many years, the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters' Guild has offered a one-day fair organized "by knitters for knitters." This Fair, held at Bingemans in Kitchener, now presents more than 70 vendors offering the latest and greatest of knitting products. Imagine 35,000 square feet—in 2 large showrooms—dedicated to the craft of knitting, offering an incredible display of a diverse variety of yarns in an explosion of colour, knitting books, patterns, and accessories.

"I was originally inspired to start The Needle Arts Book Shop several years ago when I was amazed to find an incredible selection of books on textiles at a knitting conference in the US. Many of these books were not available in regular bookstores and thus, combining both a love of textiles and of books, The Needle Arts Book Shop was created.

With book in hand we can travel through space and time, learning the needle's art from both today's designers and the historical treasures left by our ancestors. Rich in colourful photographs and illustrations, abundant with designs and technical details, books help us to give form and shape to our own ideas. The writer's words encourage us through the inevitable frustrations, make us laugh with humorous tales and share our joy in this passionate connection we have with needle and yarn.

My sincere hope is that you will enjoy browsing through the many rooms of this welcoming house and find some treasures to call your own. Many have filled up their baskets with books over the past several years and some of their enthusiastic comments are included below."
