Celtic Lass Stole
Fiddlesticks Knitting Patterns and Yarns

Feel like a Celtic Lass when you wear this warm stole with graceful shawl collar and "cable" lace motif.

The stole is begun at one end and worked to the other with a "cable" lace and diamond motif. Then the optional collar is knit separately, increasing in width to the centre, then decreasing to the end to create the graceful curve. After blocking, the collar is sewn to the stole. Our sample is knit in the colour Spruce shown with the Lacy Oval Shawl Pin.

Design Details                   

Recommended yarn: 10 balls of Fiddlesticks Knitting Silken Merino, each 50 g ball 105 metres, 114 yds (DK weight)

Finished size:
Approx. 60 inches long and 22 inches wide, not including collar (collar is approx. 5 inches deep at widest point). Stole will stretch longer with hanging. It can also be made longer with extra repeats. If knitting to gauge, there should be enough yarn to work 2 extra repeats, or about 5 inches extra length. An even longer stole will require more yarn.

Gauge in lace pattern:
4 inches = 18 stitches and 24 rows

Needles:
4 mm (US 6) 24-inch circulars or straight, whichever you prefer
or size needed to obtain gauge
