The Creatures of the Reef Shawl is a fanciful look at an ocean reef and the wonderful creatures that live there. In this shawl, you'll knit seashells, crabs, seahorses, starfish, two kinds of fish and foamy waves.
This shawl is knit on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles and starts at the bottom edge. As you work your way up the shawl, the rows become shorter and faster to work. At the end, all you do is weave in a couple of loose ends and block!

Recommended yarn:
3 balls Fiddlesticks Knitting Exquisite (laceweight - 50% mulberry silk, 50% merino wool) each ball approx. 50 g / 500 m
Recommended for Advanced Beginners and Intermediates.
Recommended needle size:
3.5 mm (US 4) 32" circular needles, and 3 mm (US 3) 24" circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Pattern: 12.00 Cdn / 10.50 US

These fabulous circular needles from Addi Turbo - the long respected name in well-crafted knitting needles - offer you enhanced features for both lace and sock knitting. They have sharp tips making it easier to work fine stitches; the needles are coated to give just the right amount of 'stick' so you have better control of lace stitches; and they have smooth joins between the needles and cord.
When selecting a needle size note that while the pattern has a suggested size (see above for Recommended needle size), you may need to use a different needle size in order to get gauge. If your experience with other Fiddlesticks patterns is that you have to go up or down a needle size to match gauge, then select the appropriate size.
