Below you can see the whole shawl and on the left a detail of the bottom corner. The edging, representing scallop shells, is at the bottom as would shells be in the ocean. Then the seahorses and crabs cavort, followed by the starfish. Two kinds of fish frolic below the waves that fill the top triangle of the shawl. The seahorse, crab, starfish and fish are all original lace patterns designed just for this shawl.
