This long, elegantly flared vest featuring Japanese stitch patterns is a sophisticated addition to the wardrobe. Worn over T-shirt and jeans or leggings, or dressed up over a blouse and wide trousers, it makes a stylish statement that is sure to attract attention!

Vest is knit in one piece from bottom edge to armholes, where work is divided for fronts and back. Front facings and collar are knit together with body. Shoulder seams are sewn, then stitches are picked up for armhole edges. A large brooch or other closure of your choice fastens the vest. Sample is shown in Size 1 (33.25 inches).

Design Details                   

Gauge: in stocking stitch, after blocking:
20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches

Recommended yarn DK-weight, each ball 50 g / 115 m. Sample knit with 100% raw silk yarn.

Sizing and Yarn Requirements with knitted measurement at bust.
Size 1: 33.25 inches - 9 balls
Size 2: 36.5 inches - 9 balls
Size 3: 40.25 inches - 10 balls
Size 4: 43 inches - 12 balls
Size 5: 45.25 inches - 12 balls
Ease can be allowed by how tightly the vest is tied.

Recommended needle sizes:
Sizes 1, 2: 3.5 mm (US 4) 24-inch circulars
Sizes 3, 4, 5: 3.5 mm (US 4) 32-inch circulars—can switch to 24-inch circulars or straights after decreases
All sizes: 3 mm (US 3) 24-inch circulars
All sizes: 3 mm (US 3) 16-inch circulars
