Romance Shawl

The Romance Shawl features pretty lace patterns specially designed to create a romantic impression. There are hearts in a rosebud trellis, cupid's darts, a chain of hearts and a unique double edging.

The shawl is knit starting from the middle top and increasing at the sides and middle to create a triangular shape. Lace is worked on one side only and the return rows are purled.

Yarn requirements and measurements:
4 skeins of Artisan NZ Merino Lace Weight yarn (20 gram skein = 300 metres), three in a lighter colour and one in a darker or variegated colour for the edging.
Finished size is about 78 inches across the top and 42 inches down the middle centre.

Recommended for Advanced Intermediate lace knitters.

Recommended needle size:
3.25 mm (US 3) 24" circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge

They have sharp tips making it easier to work fine stitches; the needles are coated to give just the right amount of 'stick' so you have better control of lace stitches; and they have smooth joins between the needles and cord.

When selecting a needle size note that while the pattern has a suggested size (see above for Recommended needle size), you may need to use a different needle size in order to get gauge. If your experience with other Fiddlesticks patterns is that you have to go up or down a needle size to match gauge, then select the appropriate size.
