from Fiddlesticks Knitting

This lovely shawl features a beautiful Japanese lace motif which creates a subtle play of light across the fabric. When knit in our pure silk laceweight yarn, it’s a truly exquisite dream.

The shawl begins with four cast on stitches at the top middle and then increases at sides and centre to create the triangular shape. The fan-like edging continues from the diamond lace motifs, and is finished with a crochet chain cast off. Lace shaping is on one side only, but there are both knit and purl stitches on the other side.

Yarn requirements:
3 balls Fiddlesticks Knitting Lace Sensation,
100% silk, each ball approx 50 g / 240 m, 260 yds

Finished size:
Approximately 65 inches across top edge and 31 inches deep at middle after blocking

Recommended for: Advanced Intermediate knitters.

Recommended needle size: 3.5 mm (US 4) 24-inch circular needles (to hold all stitches on shawl) or size to obtain gauge.

Addi Turbo Lace Knitting Circular Needles
These excellent needles from Addi Turbo offer you enhanced features for lace, sock, and texture knitting. They have sharp tips making it easier to work fine stitches; the needles are coated to give just the right amount of 'stick' so you have better control of lace stitches; and they have smooth joins between the needles and cord.

When selecting a needle size note that while the pattern has a suggested size (see above for Recommended needle size), you may need to use a different needle size in order to get gauge. If your experience with other Fiddlesticks patterns is that you have to go up or down a needle size to match gauge, then select the appropriate size.
