Flirty Ruffles Shawl

The Flirty Ruffles Shawl is an elegant wrap featuring the very old and traditional lace pattern "Print o' the Wave." The ruffles add an unexpected and flirty touch.

This shawl is knit on 3.25 mm (US 3) needles and starts at the centre top. As you knit the beautiful wave pattern, the rows become longer until the ruffle is finished in a simple knit and purl stitch. The ruffle takes a bit of time, but makes for ideal TV watching! When you're finished, though, you'll want to be out showing off your shawl instead of sitting around the tube.

Finished size is 72 inches across the top edge and 39 inches from the middle top to the bottom point, excluding ruffle.

Recommended yarn:
4 balls Fiddlesticks Knitting Exquisite (laceweight - 50% mulberry silk, 50% merino wool) each ball approx. 50 g / 500 m.

Recommended for Intermediate knitters

Recommended needle size:
3.25 mm (US 3) 32" circulars , or size required to obtain gauge.
Optional, 24" circulars to start project, moving to 32" circulars as the stitches increase.

These fabulous circular needles from Addi Turbo - the long respected name in well-crafted knitting needles - offer you enhanced features for both lace and sock knitting. They have sharp tips making it easier to work fine stitches; the needles are coated to give just the right amount of 'stick' so you have better control of lace stitches; and they have smooth joins between the needles and cord.

When selecting a needle size note that while the pattern has a suggested size (see above for Recommended needle size), you may need to use a different needle size in order to get gauge. If your experience with other Fiddlesticks patterns is that you have to go up or down a needle size to match gauge, then select the appropriate size.
